Goodies From Grandma's Recipe Box

Home

Introduction

Several Years ago I was looking through Grandma's recicpe box. I found it interesting that a majority of the recipes were for "goodies." I wondered why, and my Uncle Virgil said it was because the Finns "already knew how to make everything else."

I think it also had a lot to do with Grandma's inherent hospitality. You never could go to her house to visit without finding cookies or some other goodies on the table.

Are these recipes "Finnish" recipes because they were found in Grandma's recipe box? Perhaps not, but I have selected several to share with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
I also want to thank Uncle Virgil, Aunt Patty, Uncle Chuck, Mom, and May Adair for providing information for Grandma's biography.

Note: Some of the recipes contained in Goodies from Grandma's Recipe Box were written before the advent of modern cooking appliances. Therefore, some of the oven temperatures given are estimated based on "hot oven," "moderate oven" and so forth, as found in the original recipe.
